CARLSBAD, Calif. – April 14, 2021 – Citing recognition of GIA for gemological report services and education, a Belgian court unequivocally ordered AIG Belgium, operating as American International Gemological Laboratories and Antwerp International Gemological Laboratories, to immediately cease using ‘AIG’ alone or in conjunction with other marks, or face significant penalty payments.

The more than 60 scientists, engineers, gemologists and technicians of GIA’s global research team met November 1-3 at the Institute’s world headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.

At its recent meeting in Carlsbad, California, the Board of Governors of the Gemological Institute of America, Inc. (GIA) announced the addition of two new members, Lisa Bridge, President and CEO of Ben Bridge Jeweler and Dr. Wendy Bohrson, professor of geology at the Colorado School of Mines.

GIA, the leader in gemological education, research and science-based gem identification and grading services, is revamping the GIA Graduate Jeweler program in collaboration with master goldsmith and award-winning jewelry designer Alan Revere.
