CARLSBAD, Calif. – March 5, 2026 – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) announced today that Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer, has decided to leave the institute after almost 50 years of service.

CARLSBAD, Calif. – February 11, 2026 – George Rossman, a member of the GIA Board of Governors from 1995 to 2007 and professor of mineralogy, emeritus, at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), passed away on February 6 at age 81.

CARLSBAD, Calif. – December 10, 2025 – GIA, the Gemological Institute of America, will launch redesigned colored stone reports and new services on January 1, 2026.

CARLSBAD, Calif. – November 10, 2025 – During the GIA Board of Governors meeting in early November at the Institute’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California, the Institute honored Susan M. Jacques with its highest honor.
